Brooke and I met in January 2018 after a funny but poignant series of conversations via Instagram about armpit hair / body hair. Over the course of the next 3-4 months, we met up several times and shot in multiple locations, with each shoot having a particular direction or theme.
We also shot with a wide variety of cameras and types of film, including: Pentax K-3 II, Pentax K-5 IIs, Pentax LX, Mamiya 645, Mamiya C330, Canon F1, Leica M3, Nikon N80, Polaroid SX-70, Graflex Speed Graphic shooting both 4×5 film and Fuji FP-100c / Polaroid Chocolate.
Brooke’s shoots highlight some of the fun of using those different cameras and films during each session. They also highlight some of the inherent frustration of working with film, especially expired film of unknown origin, like the Polaroid Chocolate. That single pack of Chocolate film took me several weeks to shoot, in part because of the sheer unpredictability of whether the individual photos would be viable, or even whether they would separate from the pack at all (and several sessions ended with me using a dark changing bag to manipulate the film out of the holder and get it processed without exposing it to the light).
