I acquired a Leica M3 several months ago in an outrageous trade with a friend. The camera came with a Summarit 50mm f1.5 lens that is currently in the shop. In it’s place I’m using a Summicron 50mm f2. I’m not a big fan of Leica for a couple of reasons, but I don’t dislike their cameras, either. They simply don’t inspire me that much, even as I acknowledge that they make beautiful precision cameras and gorgeous lenses. I’m just not drinking the kool-ade. I load it with film maybe once a month and shoot around with it, enjoy the process as much as I can, then put it back on the shelf.
This past weekend, Rachael came down from Atlanta to spend a long weekend chilling with us in Pensacola and doing a series of shoots with me. On our last day together, I grabbed the M3, loaded it with a roll of 20 year old Fuji NPH400 color film and we went to town. The following pics are a few of our favorites from that roll.
